Nina Simone on the beauty of black people. [x]
“…I think what you are trying to ask is why am I so insistent upon giving out to them that blackness, that black power, that black pushing them to identify with black culture. I think that’s what you’re asking?I have no choice over it, in the first place. To me we are the most beautiful creatures in the whole world. Black people. And I mean that in every sense, outside and inside. To me we have a culture, that is surpassed by no other civilizations but we don’t know anything about it. ….My job is to somehow make them curious enough. Persuade them…to be more aware of themselves and where they came from. And what they are into, what is already there. Just to bring it out. This is what compels me. To compel THEM.And I will do it by whatever means necessary.”

I’m just thinking about how Toni Morrison said in so many words that “paradise” is tied to exclusion and erasure… and that makes me think about the whole anti-racist rhetoric that is jumping with joy to erase blackness from the conversation in hopes of this racial paradise….
I keep saying that people not just white people think that blackness is the race problem… the goal is to completely erase it’s connective-ness to land, history, peoples.. that way the world can “finally” progress without the race(black) problem…
